Firefighter Defibrillation |
Course Goal To provide firefighters with the basic skills and knowledge for the safe and proper use of an automatic external defibrillator Rationale The use of the semi automatic external defibrillator is still a “delegated medical act” in Ontario. The constant review of training is imperative for the firefighter to retain a high level of knowledge and skill in the use of a SAED. Pre-requisites: Current CPR ( C ) and current employment at a municipal fire department within the Region of Waterloo.Pre-course Study: Review the student manual from Base Hospital Course Duration: (7 hours) Delivery Modes (Methodology) Lecture/discussions, practical component Credit Upon successful completion of this course, and once all other provisions required by Base hospital are met, the student will receive from Waterloo Wellington Dufferin Base Hospital a certificate entitled “Firefighter Defibrillation”.
